The season kicks off with Scorched, a highly charged, viscerally thrilling work for jazz trio and orchestra by Mark-Anthony Turnage, based on the music of the American guitarist John Scofield. The score, Turnage’s second collaboration with Scofield, represents one of the most successful fusions of the classical and jazz worlds yet heard.
