LONDON CONTEMPORARY ORCHESTRA

Fresh and exciting

London Contemporary Orchestra draws together London’s brightest young talent to explore and promote contemporary classical music to an increasingly wide audience. Our aim is to stimulate and enlighten through fresh and exciting music-making.

The opening 2008 season will feature a broad cross-section of musical styles and genres from Jonny Greenwood, of Radiohead fame, to Thomas Adès, or Xenakis to the jazz-infused work of Mark-Anthony Turnage. As a result LCO aims to draw in a wide range of listeners who will in turn encounter a diversity of new music they might not otherwise engage with.

A further driving initiative behind LCO is to champion the music of young, London-based composers – providing them with a platform for their work, coverage, publicity and a general ‘leg-up’.
